stingy or a matter of principles??

Was talking to an intelligent woman (who is currently obsess with buying lacey bed sheets) just a Saturday ago. She was on the topic of "What would you do if you realised that your bills is over charged by a few cents (as in S$0.0*, where * is > or = 1 but < or = 9)?"

She was telling me that she heard from from her friends that there are people in Singapore who will actually call up the respective Company and demand a change or a refund. Their reason is simply: Its not that we are stingy about a few cents but imagine this; if one person let S$0.01 (for example) go, and imagine the Company overcharging all its 3 million clients(Companies refering to those which is more on monopoly economics or have just one or two competitors) by just ONE CENT. Because ONE CENT means nothing to one person, all 3 million actually didnt bother about it; do a simply math calculation : $0.01 x 3,000,000 = $30,000. LOOK AT THE FIGURE!!! That Company is actually earning an extra S$30,000.

You think this is an excuse for being stingy or is it really a matter of principles??
